New central bus terminal in San Pedro SulaCountry forums / Central America / Honduras
Just an FYI for all you folks staying in/ passing through SPS: There is now a new central bus terminal that houses all the bus companies like Casasola and Hedman Alas. The only one I noticed as missing was King Quality, which was still using its old terminal. The new terminal, to which all the other bus companies just moved a month ago, is called Gran Central Metropolitana (L50 cab ride from the center of the city). The terminal is indoors and kind of reminds me of a smaller-scale version of Panama City's Albrook terminal. There's a food court upstairs with plenty of chicken and rice'n'beans dishes, and a licuados stand. Many bus companies (Casasola, for example) haven't even updated their phone #'s yet, so to book your tickets with them, I'd just go to the terminal, like I did. Hope this helps! Darrin
Thanks for that update. I was wondering if it had happened yet. My local connections always told me the the old depot was extremely dangerous. Has this changed that at all? | 1
The new terminal is well-lit and I felt safe there(a relative term in CA :), since it's not openly facing a seedy street. It's an enclosed terminal about the size of a small shopping mall. It's also a little outside of the city, so there's not much around the terminal but highways and gas stations. I just found a website for the center, but most of the links on it don't work yet: http://grancentralhn.com/</a> | 2
Thanks for the update! I'm heading from San Pedro Sula to Copan with a group in tow this summer and will look forward to checking it out myself. | 3
