Little Corn vs. Big Corn

Country forums / Central America / Nicaragua

I'll be wrapping up a trip to Nicaragua at the Corn islands ..... Staying four nights.

Just wondering, are their any advantages/disadvantages between Little Corn and Big corn?

They both seem nice to me.

Thanks

Hi, If you are putting in all the effort and money to get to the Corn Islands, then the short boat ride between the two should not stop you from visiting both. I prefered Little Corn but why not see both and then you decide?

Little Corn has no vehicles and is more tourist oriented. You hike everywhere and there are small places to stay, mostly wooden cabanas with no AC. This is set up for the back packing crowd but also will accomidate other travelers if they are flexable and don't expect the Hilton type of rooms.
Big Corn is a working island that also has a tourist infastructure. They have nicer hotels but fewer folks vacation here. Both have very nice beaches and restaurants. You can split your 4 days and do at least a night on each. Maybe start with little corn and end on Big as that is where the airport is. I would not stay in the town of Brig Bay on Big Corn as it is not the nicest spot on the island. There are many other locations such as north or south end. Either way you will enjoy your stay. Go to the Corn Island website for a listing of all hotels.
