How to get from La Fortuna to Alajuela without a car...Country forums / Central America / Costa Rica
Hi All! I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get from La Fortuna to Alajuela via some sort of public transportation. Do all busses need to stop through San Jose first? Seems like you have to backtrack that way. Is there another option? Thanks!
It's more like the other way around. Almost all buses from places north and west in CR stop at the Alajuela airport on the way into San Jose. If you're not flying out that day, there are local buses that frequently can take you into Alajuela center from the same airport bus stop. | 1
Ok awesome. No we are flying out the next day but staying near downtown alajuela the night before. I was looking at the direct buses from la fortuna to san jose but they didn't have alajuela listed as a stop, just ciudad quesada. From what I can see online, there is a stop in alajuela called La Radial. I wonder if they will drop off there if it's a direct bus? Or do we swap at la quesada for a local bus with more stops? Just trying to figure out the most efficient option for my boyfriend and I who know very elementary Spanish :) | 2
From la Fortuna to Alajuela you might have to change buses in Ciudad Quesada (San Carlos). And yes, you will end up at La Radial. I think the direct bus would stop there as well. Just ask "Alajuela?" when you board the bus. | 3
