Me and a friend plan on taking a flight from Guatemala City to Flores. Any advice on how to find the best fares for this route would be appreciated. Also, wondering how long of a bus ride this would be. Thanks in advance.

About a year ago (Dec 2005) we took the bus from Guat City to Flores. We didn't feel like going back on the bus to Guat City from Flores, and were short on time too. So we checked out the airport in Flores and got a flight right there at the airport baggage-check desk, which left an hour or two later that day with Tikal Jets Airlines. I believe it was $99 per person. (I think it was going to be cheaper if we were going the next day.) The jet appeared to be brand new at that time and the flight was quick and easy. I think the bus rdie was about 6 to 8 hours. The bus we were on stopped a lot, in every little dinky town. Highlights were a tamale and slice of white bread for lunch, along with a juice box they gave us. Unfortunately my tamale had ony a chicken leg bone in it. The bus ride wasn't that bad, but the flight was much better if you can afford it. Be careful in the Guat City bus station though, it was kind of sketchy when I was alone (female) for a short time. I had a couple of freaky guys bothering me. I ended up sitting bunched up between all the Guatemalan ladies there.

Prices have gone up...used to be $75 one way and $100 return a few years ago with TAG airlines. Good God...I keep promoting this airline...people are going to start thinking I am getting a kickback! Hey...maybe I should be!!
