Drinking Water in Bocas Del Toro

Is the tap water in Bocas Del Toro safe to drink? Im trying to cut down on plastic bottles.

It is not like Mexico but sometimes it is rusty or dirty. You probably will drink some and never know it. If you do want to drink bottled water you can buy a 5 gallon tank and refill it at a number of places around town for 25 cents a half gallon. Many places use the plentiful rain water and then filter that.
