diving in panama?

Country forums / Central America / Panama

Hi!

I am based in Haiti and planning to take a 5-days break in mid-August and wondered if diving in Panama is something worth it....any advice, suggestion is very welcome!

Thanks in advance!
Sam

Coiba National Park- an island 12 miles offshore from Santa Catalina is Panama's best scuba diving destination. ( santacatalinabeach.com)

Pedasi has decent diving and a dive centre as well.

Samazing, Isla Contadora and Isla Iguana, accessible from Panama City and Pedasi respectively,
are both also good Panamanian scuba sites, as the guys have said. I'd stick to Pacific
dive sites in the wet season as the carib side has more silting from rainfall and these
, two- as well as Isla Coiba, are offshore islands which gets you away from mainland runoff.
Happy Travels!

Bocas del Toro isn't bad if you want some fun and nightlife also. Plus you have the advantage of being able to skip across the border (3 hours) to the lovely Puerto Vieja in Costa Rica where there are more diving opportunities.
