Costa Rica: Potential 2 week Itinerary for Feb 2017Country forums / Central America / Costa Rica
Hi all, My girlfriend and I are going to Costa Rica for two weeks in February 2017. We are flying in and out of San Jose. How does the below itinerary sound: Days 1-3: Tortuguero We are predominantly looking for lots of wildlife and relaxing beaches. I would personally like to try my hand at surfing if possible. Maybe rafting the Pacuare River too? Is this itinerary doable? Realistic? Anything amazing we've missed out or anything to avoid? Many thanks in advance.
That itinerary looks great for the amount of time you are there. Surf is best on the Caribean coast Jan - Apr. Shame you only have 2 weeks because you'd probably want to spend at least a week in the Osa, but if you love it you can always go back. I'll be there in May but am concentrating on the Pacific side. | 1
Where in the Osa? Puerto Jimenez or Drake Bay? It would be great to have an extra day for the Osa. You could steal a day from Tortuguero or Cahuita. Lots of wildlife in all the places you are going to. Some of the highlights for us were the National Park in Cahuita, Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre (near Puerto Jimenez) and the Sirena ranger station in Corcovado Park. Cabo Matapalo has lots of wildlife as well. You can use the rafting trip on the Rio Pacuare to get from Puerto Viejo to San Jose. | 2
Where in Osa? I might recommend the entire time on the Caribe especially if you want to raft the Pacuare River and want to have time to hike and play on the Caribe side. Lots of wildlife on the Caribe. Looks good overall though if you don't plan to hike the Osa, like Sonia's plan of Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre. | 3
