This post may come too late as you mention leaving Friday, nevertheless... El Meson B&B (http://www.casaelmeson.com/eng_index.htm) is not cheap (US$60), but it is very safe (in a guarded and gated community) and comfortable. Rooms have private bath, air conditioning, fan, and hot water, and guests are free to use a common TV lounge/dining room. Internet access is also available. The hostess, Sandra, is wonderful and friendly, and makes a terrific and filling breakfast (we had pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, juice, coffee/tea). The day of our departure, we didn't have time to eat at her place, so she made our breakfast "to go" (sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, juice). El Meson offers transfer service to/from the airport for $15 (price is for one-way trip, not per person) as well as to the bus station for $12. They also arrange tours, including to Copan. | 2
Here's another guesthouse option for an overnight stay in SPS... Dos Molinos Guesthouse (guesthousedosmolinos@yahoo.com) I stayed here a week ago and found this overnight option to be safe and affordable. The accomodations are very basic, but clean and comfortable. The owners, Luis and Blanca, are wonderful people and they will assist you with whatever your travel needs are. They will pick you up at the airport (for a fee) and drive you to the bus station (for free). You can also Google them and find many positive responses from others who have stayed there. Good luck and have a great trip to Honduras! | 3
