I will be in the bocas del toro area from feb 18 - 26.

Thinking of staying at the yellowjack dive hostal for 3 nights, then somewhere comfortable in Bocas for a night, then a hostal in Bocas while I take 5 days of language school with Spanish by the Sea.

Has anyone stayed at the Yellowjack Dive Hostal?

I've heard storms in November may have hit the islands hard and that now is not a good time to visit. Is that true?

Do you recommend any must see or do activities? (example - cave on…

We're trying to figure out a destination that would be good for kids (6 and 16months) and interesting. Rainforest, waterfalls, nice beaches, culture, off the beaten path is what we're looking for. No all inclusive Sands resort type places. We've considered Costa Rica, Mayan ruins in Mexico but Panama is looking intertesting. Any suggestions?

I've travelled to Panama multitple times but never drove the Panama City to David route. I plan on arriving late at Tocumen and from there rent a car and drive the 6 hours to David or maybe stop in Santiago. How's the safety or 24 hour gas station/restaurants along this route late in the evening?

Thanks!

Trying to plan 2 week trip to Panama and my research/responses from TT posters have told me that San Blas is a do not miss so it looks like we will be going there and skipping David/Boquete.

Now I am having trouble picking which location!

Here's what we want:

A beach! That we can swim from (I know you go on day trips but a nice location is still important. I've heard some islands have very dirty water due to sewage or whatever else).

Access to really good snorkelling on the day trips (I saw…

Hey we are 30ish couple from Alaska thinking of a 1 month trip around Panama. thinking of renting a vehicle there. Is this reasonable as far as the roads go ect... in other words, weve been to India and wouldnt rent a car there....
Also, does Panama have a wild and exotic feel? Or is it too developed and "tame?" these are vague questions but feedback would be helpful. We are interested in hiking, bird watching, hanging out in small towns. We would go in March-this is dry season, but is the…

Has anyone stayed here? Would you recommend it?
Are there nice beaches for swimming/lounging within an easy walk?
Is there any hiking/lush vegetation in the area?

Thanks for any tips/advice!

Hi! I'm planning a 2 week trip for my and my bf - I've travelled quite a bit and he's never travelled at all, so I want this to be a fairly good introductory trip - not too many long long bus rides etc.

I've worked out a tentative itinerary but I'm looking for any feedback - info - ideas I can get - I have some specific questions further on in the post.

We are in the 25-30 age range, and we will be on a budget of about $75 US per day each, which I think should let us be pretty comfortable…
