Hello,

We are busing from PC to Bocas del Toro on the overnight express. As far as I can tell, the only express back to Panama City leaves at 7:30 am.

We don't want to miss a day, so what are our other options if we wish to travel throughout the night?

Also-- are there any websites for the terminal or bus companies?? Do buses leave every single night from PC to Bocas?

Or maybe (I don't know if this makes sense) we could take a bus from Bocas to El Valle, spend a day, and then move onward to…

Hi,

Moving to Panama to work in the ciudad del saber for 4 months, and trying to figure out where to live in the city. Commuting every day from Panama City to Clayton can be a bit of a nightmare I heard, so I'm considering just living in Clayton to avoid it. What sort of a place is it though? Would I be bored to death, or could I find entertainment enough during the week (i'd be off visiting most weekends I imagine)? Is it much more expensive than other places in the city? Are there quite a few…

Flying Continental/Copa from Costa Rica to Colombia next week, I have a four and a half hour layover in Panama City. Are the sights (i.e. the canal) close enough and safe enough that I should venture out to see them? What would be a not-too-expensive yet reasonably reliable mode of transportation?

Hablo un poco de español.

Thanks.

I am traveling to panama alone with little knowledge of spanish. I am planning on visiting Panama city, bouquete (volcan baru), and bocas del toro.

Is 3 days 2 nights enough time in Bocas? What is there to do there.. if it rains can i still enjoy it?
Are the san blas islands better than Bocas?
I like adventure, culture and night life..
I was hoping to rent a bike,,take a island tour for the day/snorkel/forrest..and go to the cavern..

We were informed that the Sendero de los Quetzales is badly damaged by heavy storms and rains and therefore closed. Anyone familiar with the Pianista trail please? How long is the trail and is it steep/heavy? And is the season still
rainy? Thanks for your answer.

Final Report Panama City
I remained for the rest of my trip in Panama City and did day excursions. Panama City in some ways is a beautiful modern and safe city but just around the corner are horribly depressed and dangerous sections. It is a city where you always have to keep track of where you are and what is happening. There is a strong Tourist Police unit who watches out for tourists and I saw them and experienced them leading tourists out of dangerous areas.

Balboa Blvd
I walked down to…

Hi all,

We are looking for decent backpacks (around 40L) in Panama City. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to try? We are on a driving trip from Canada to Argentina and initially we were going to fly to Ecuador while we shipped our car over. Now we have decided to travel overland from Panama to Colombia and into Ecuador to meet our car. So now we need packs!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi everybody! I'm planning a backpacking style trip to Panama for my boyfriend in me for three weeks in late December (after Christmas)/early January. About us - we're 27, we like outdoor activities, nature/wildlife, beaches, hiking, snorkelling - those sorts of things.
I've got a rough idea of where we want to go, just a few questions. Does this sound reasonable for 3 weeks? Where do we have to book ahead, and where should we wait until we're there to find accomadation? Any recommendations…

I am just looking for another person wanting to go to desereted beaches and swim and snorkle with. I am a 20 y/o female from WA state. This is my second trip to central…

Panama Part II San Blas Islands (Kuna Yala)

After checking into Mamallena Hostel I decided to use it as a home base since they were putting together my San Blas trip and I was using the rest of my time to explore the Panama City area. They have dorms with bunkbeds($11) and private rooms($27.50), are fairly centrally located, have free internet and several stores and restaurants in the area and are off one of the major bus lines. They are also very knowledgeable about the area, have several…
