It's that time again!

The Fair of San Jose de David is on it's way to our fine city and is sure to be fun!

10 days of exhibitions, parties, folklore, amusement rides, shopping, discoteca, drinking and festivities!
The event is 24 hours a day, and costs $1.25 to get in.
The city will be packed so be sure to make your reservations. It's a very popular event for the entire country of Panama and people come from all over Central America to participate and to sell, so hotels are busy (and slightly…

Hello all...

I have read a lot of thrilling reviews on the Forum encouraging sailing the San Blas. However, it seems the well-regarded Tony and his Andiamo will not be doing the 2-3 day sail at the time I'll be there. Does anyone have any OTHER suggestions for a catamaran of similiar style (ie for the economy-minded traveller who would lilke to join up with others)? I looked into San Blas Sailing but seems that will just be too expensive.

... Gracias y happy trails.

Stayed in Panama City for a few nights at both the beginning and the end of my month long trip in Panama. Stayed at Luna's Castle upon arrival and at Mamallena pre-departure. Overall, I preferred Mamallena's. Staff was nicer, location was a little more central, dorms were air conditioned and there was more space to hang out. Luna's has beautiful architecture in the neighborhood, great views and lots of information, but it is in somewhat of a "bad" neighborhood (not many bar/restaurant…

We stayed in David for a total of about 7 days and I blame this all on Bambu - a great hostel! Not too much to see in David, but the hostel is a great place to spend a few days, especially if you want to get some sun or stay warm before/after a trip to Boquete. The weather was amazing (compared to rain in Bocas), the pool was phenomenal and the $8/night dorm beds and 75 cent beers makes it more than affordable. Friendly staff, cheap eats nearby ($2 fish dinner across the street), free…

I was travelling around Panama for a month in February, and I had booked a package with Xavier D. Gauge at www.kitesurfingpanama.com
First of all, I wrote him a couple of e-mails beforehand, and he never answered half of the questions. When I got there, he forgot that I had made a reservation for a private room, so he put me in his spare bedroom where he stored all his kitesurfing stuff, so I wasn't able to put my stuff anyplace else than on the floor.
Then, there was no water in the house for 2…

we would like to travel the San Blas region within the next 2-3weeks. I have a lot of questions but very little info available. We are interested on staying at off-shore island (not carti/porvenir) and would like to know the ff;

1) eventhough you can stay in carti or porvenir, is there any advantages to staying in the islands besides the better beaches around you lmost 24hrs? in other words, is it really worth it staying on an island despite tours are offered if you stay in the mainland Kuna…

Hello,

We are taking a bus from Bocas del Toro back to Panama City (Almirante- Chiriqui- Las Lajas- PC) and are thinking about stopping in Chiriqui for a day. Where is the bus terminal- esp in relation to Boquete, the volcano, or whitewater rafting?

Thank you!!!

Wondering whether to take the partial canal transit tour or the full nine hour canal transit. I am interested in seeing it all but my husband thinks nine hours is just too long. Any opinions on what I would be missing if I took the shorter tour? Thanks. Jenifer

Hello,

For people who have been to Bocas- what are your opinions on the best budget accomodation? We want a private room for 2- don't care if it is in Bocas, Isla Colon, etc- so dorm style is out of the picture!

Thanks a lot for any help!
