Looking for a hotel for a group of about 25 of us in the Allbrook Airport area or close to the western side of Panama City, near the Panamerican highway.

For $50 or less a room.

I found Hotel Santana, which looks pretty good. Anyone every stay there? Or can recommend something like it?

Thanks!

Hi guys,
We're ending our 2 month trip of Central America in Panama City. Originally we had San Blas on the itinerary but its going to be a too much of a race to fit that in, hence I'm wondering what options for some nice beach time are available in or around the Panama City area. The LP guidebook suggests Isla Taboga as a bit of a paradise getaway from the city... Has anybody been? Is it worthwhile? Any other places that could top that for beach getaway from the city? A day trip would be…

Hi everyone,
I know that there are already some threads about layovers in Panama City, but I am still unsure about my questions. I fly into Panama City (from Ecuador) on a Monday at almost 5pm. My flight back to the States does not leave until the following day (Tuesday) at 10am. I would really like to see the Canal while I am there but discovered that the Visitor's Center closes at 5pm. My plan is to take a taxi to wherever I'll be staying so that I can drop off my bag, then head to the…

Hello all,
I am trying to plan a romantic getaway in July that has a mix of beach relaxation and hiking. I was thinking san blas/el valle as possibiities, but I am open to ideas. Can anyone recommend places to go with accomodation that is in a lovely, romantic setting without breaking the bank? Our budget is approx $50 per night, more if meals are included. We don't need 5 star, just clean and relaxing (not overrun with party people, not a dingy room with questionable cleanliness). Thanks!

Hello expert community,

I arrive on a Friday night into Panama City at 6pm. I'm hoping to sail through customs (carry-on luggage only) and get in a cab to reach Albrook bus station by 8pm where I hope to catch the overnight bus to Bocas del Toro.

Questions:

  1. I've read it can take up to 2 hours to reach Albrook bus station from Tocumen depending on traffic. Is this a particularly heavy traffic time? Do I have any chance of making it?

  2. What is the overnight bus like? Some…

Hi everyone
Can anyone tell me if there are any places to stay that aren't too expensive in playa la barqueta?
The only thing i can find is the Las olas resort which is far too expensive. We are coming here to go surfing so dont need something too fancy just a place that is clean.
Hope to hear from someone soon
Thanks heaps

Hi all,

Just a quick transit question. I am soon flying through Panama City on my way to Bolivia. I have some friends that live in PC, and I will have a 4-hr layover in Panama City. How feasible is it for me to go all the way through customs/immigration in Panama so that I can exit the airport and say hello? If this doesn't make sense or isn't possible, can I get to that upstairs cafeteria area while I'm still "in transit" so that they can come to meet me at the airport and visit briefly? Is…

Hi people,

I am planning to go to Panama in November for one month.
Has anyone experiences of actual prices for accomodation, costs of living incl. food and drinking, bus transport, in Panama and Panama City?
I am looking for a small CLEAN room, in a hotel, or "pousada" like it is known in Brazil.

I am happy for every comment.
Thanks.

Sincerly,
Manfred

Hello-

I'm looking for some good off-the-beaten path places to go to in Panama, where I will be for 9 days (11 w/ flights) at the end of July. I would like to see deserted (or almost) beaches, and I also love wildlife, and I wouldn't mind a volcano or trekking. I don't mind crazy traveling conditions from point A to point B, and I will sleep in pretty much anything. Really, the more remote the better. However, my time is limited.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Also, I was looking at…
