Hello! I wanted to share a small taste of my sublime San Blas experience. I had researched a lot prior to booking, and was prepared for rain and to be sea sick most of the voyage...
What I got was 6 days of bliss, excellent meals, professional crew, astonishing islands, smooth sailing on the catamaran The Bay Dreamer and I never felt sick once. I was also blessed that there were 5 very cool, adventurous and also solo travellers also doing the trip. They really made it something extra special. And we enjoyed playing cards, volleyball and even doing crafts together!
We left from Portobello (which is well worth a day or two to explore! A fascinating town full of pirate histroy and many ruins.) I stayed at Hospedaje Sangui. Tel 448 2204 Cell 6651 8972. It's a small yellow place 30 seconds up the road from the big sign to Captain Jacks. A single room here is cheaper than a dorm bed at Captain Jacks. But go to Captain Jacks to eat their yummy food and have their yummy coco and lime drink!
We left in the evening and would sleep on the boat (new and very clean) and relax on the islands during the day. Then we had the rest of the time sailing open water to Colombia. What an experience sailing at open water with warm breeze, excellent food and atmosphere towards one of the greatest countries in the world! We snorkelled ship wrecks, saw eagle rays, bought fresh sea food and there was even a shower on board! I found the kuna people to be very friendly, and one night we paid for a bonfire... Well worth it!
Ana, Daniel and Katrina were very thoughtful crew who made the trip personable and unique.
The only trouble I had was that I couldn't sleep. There were 2 people to each cabin and you shared a bed. I found and it very hot but could sleep with when the window was open but my room companion preferred the window closed, as she was more directky under the window. But I still enjoyed myself even though I was constantly desperately tired and everyone around me seemed to sleep fine! So maybe choose your bed position, if you can.
But other than that you are very, very lucky if you get to sail on the Baydreamer. It is not a party boat, if you want to get drunk for 6 days then choose another boat, but you can still drink of course and have fun. We had a LOT of fun. I was respectful that I was sailing in someones home. and I think this helped make the trip so special!
So if you have the time then book! I nearly flew and I am so glad I didn't!
Contact the captain directly through the web page or book through Luna Castle like I did. They were very helpful. The Bay Dreamer won't be sailing this route for ever... So if you want to do it, do it now!
I will treasure this experience for ever. Thanks sincerely to all involved.

Thanks kiwi, excellent trip report.
If I may ask, what the hell did you pay for the 6 day trip and what did it include, such nice details except cost.
Thanks again.
