I have fished in several different areas in Central America, and always seem to have a great time. I personally like to fish with a local on a panga and get some of their life stories as we try and catch fish. I don't need to be on a 40ft boat with 3 engines and a tuna tower out for 2 days.

With that said, can anyone give me a little direction on where to find the best place to hire a panga. Again, we would like to trawl, and a half day may be enough. I have heard stories about renting the panga $50 and then paying for gas. I was thinking near Punta Chame, but i would love some input.

Thanks,

Go to El Rompio beach, about 15 minutes from Chitre and get a fisherman there. Isla Penona few kms off the beach has good fishing

Punta Chame is a good option. Try contacting these guys. I have helped many of them. They spend the night and you can.
