I am a single woman looking to travel to Panama City soon. I am in search of a nice, quiet safe hotel in an area that is safe for me to walk around by myself. I would prefer a hotel with private bath and a quiet room to a hostel and don't mind paying a bit more for that luxury. Any recommendations? Thanks a million!

...and your budget is ?

I'm not entirely sure of my budget -- Ideally, I'd like the cheapest hotel that meets my needs. Maybe something between $60 and $150? I know that's a wide range, but I haven't truely learned what hotel values are like in Panama City yet. Thanks!

LAS VEGAS SUITES SHOULD BE AROUND $50., AND FITS YOUR NEEDS.

ZZZAPATO is right about Las Vegas Suites, but make SURE that you get an inside, upper floor room. I did not and was awakended each morning by the "Diablo Rojo" buses and the cabs honking their horns. Otherwise, this hotel is in a very safe location
with lots of restaurants close by. Apply online and get a discount as I did, and your room should be $45.00-$50.00 per night.

This has been asked 1,000 times before... you might try searching the history. I have stayed at Las Vegas many times, but think El Parador is a better deal: equally good location, but less money, much quieter, and has a pool. (To get above the traffic noise at Las Vegas, as Roger rightly suggests, you need floor 8 or higher -- and I think there are only 10 floors total.)

I've been to Villas Sevilla, at the Cangrejera zone (downtown, near many services like restaurants, internet cafes)... but not entirely sure about the price (company paid). But I think it is in the range you want.

Rack rate for the cheapest room at Sevilla Suites is $100, not including tax. http://www.sevillasuites.com/suites_our.htm (Also, the name of the area is El Cangrejo.)

I would recommend to book fairly early. A friend joined me while I was in PC in mid-January. We had a heck of a time finding a good room. I guess there are a lot of folks from Venezuela there on a long-term basis...especially on the weekends...
