Hi all,
I-ve been travelling in Mexico and Central America since November and am finishing up my trip in Panama. I want to head to Bocas del Toro from Santa Catalina and want to minimise my bus time in the last couple of weeks of my trip.

I need to get to Bocas and then to either Panama City or preferrably San Jose, Costa Rica to fly back to Mexico, D.F.

I have unanswered questions which I have emailed a few airlines about but am yet to receive a reply.

  1. Am I able to fly from David to Bocas with a surfboard, do I have to let them know and does it coast extra. And how much time do I save by flying from David versus busing and boating?

  2. I have read elsewhere (LP central america guidebook I think) that there are flights from Bocas to San Jose w Air Panama but I haven-t been able to find them online.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Happy travels

  1. Yes you can fly from David to Bocas with a surf board. The flights only go 3 days a week. If you fly it takes like 20 mins if you take the bus its like 4hours.

  2. The only flights from Bocas to San Jose, CR are on Nature Air.

If you go to my website for my Bed and Breakfast, Bahia Del Sol in Bocas you can get the links to all the airlines, see maps and get some accurate information. Let me know if you have any more questions on the area.

Crazy how much inaccurate information is out there. I will try to check these forums often to keep people updated with accurate info.
