I am planning to go to Panama City to teach English, and I was wondering if anyone knows about how apartment rentals work down there. I just finished 6 months teaching in Ecuador, and there it is almost impossible to rent an furnished apt - most don't even have fridges, you're expected to furnish it all yourself. It makes it really tricky if you only want to stay short term as you have to sell all the stuff on or just call it a loss. I'm wondering if Panama might be similar.

Also, maybe someone knows the going monthly rate for an average place? And the best/safest areas to live?

Muchas muchas gracias!

Try craigslist. Yes there are furnished apartment that you will be able to rent, also shared rentals. Do you know in which neighborhood you are going to teach in? It will be better to live in the area that you work in for the traffic is very congested in Panama City. Good neighborhoods El Cangrejo, San Francisco, Punta Paitilla & Pacifica, Bella Vista some parts and Albrook.

Hi,

I see that you have taught English in Ecuador for six months and are now planning on teaching in Panama. I am very much interested in doing the same. How do I go about finding a job?
Thanks.
