We are thinking of doing a trip down to Nicaragua, flying into Managua on a Friday at 11am and leaving on a Monday at 7ish AM. What would you recommend doing if you have this time frame? What sites are a must see on this short of a trip?
Thanks

Never having been to Central America, I simply do not know this. Will be travelling for 3 weeks in Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua and staying wherever the wind take us, in budget hotels. We will be taking malaria pills and using a deet based insecticide. Are bed nets also in order, or is this over kill. Do travellers actually use these, and is there the means to hang up the nets simply. All information is greatly appreciated.
We got a quote of $75 flat rate from Paxeos, which seems high. From other posts I see we could hope for other walk ups to reduce the cost, but wanted to see if anyone knew if any other reliable companies offerred this service at a better rate. We may opt for the bus, but since it's for a flight, would rather be on the safe side.
Thank you!
Hi everyone !
I'm heading to Nicaragua over christmas & new year. I'll be backpacking and staying in hostels/cheap places. Should I book these before leaving ? I'm especially thinking of places like Ometepe and Big Corn which may be crowded...
Hi
can anyone tell me what the road from Managua to El Rama is like ? Is it all the way paved or is unpaved at the end? Never made it to El Rama, just know the roads further south and they are not great...
I work for a logistics company now and a client wants to send a container to El Rama - just fearing that all his stuff will be pretty banged up if the road is crap.
Solo 25-year-old traveler looking to meet up and go to Ometepe for 4-7 days during the first week or so of February. Looking into Hacienda Merida, and other spots as well. Looking for a travel partner(s).
A quick trip to Nicaragua - November 2008 – Granada, Ometepe, San Juan del Sur - 11 nights
Safety/Security: We didn’t have any issues with our personal safety or the security of our belongings. And actually, I would say that Nicaragua felt safer than a lot of other countries in Central and South America. No issues in taxis, no issues with our bags in the hotel rooms, no issues walking at night. Of course you have to be vigilant, but I was surprised at the overall mellowness. We arrived a…
First snowflakes just hit the ground. I'm thinking about a warm place to hang out w/my playmate for about a month. Been to Mexico, Caribbean, Costa Rica, Belize, Honduras. Nicaragua keeps coming to mind. Any suggestions on something like a yoga retreat, but not too upscale/organized? Would want to travel about a bit... on a budget, of course. Hiking, hammocas, and a beautiful beach wouldn't hurt. I know, not asking for much are ya?!? Have a few weeks to plan this run-away. Am mostly…
I've discovered that Tierra Tours has these on a regular basis, but do any other companies also offer regular shuttles to either of these places? Thanks.
FYI--The G to Matagalpa leaves M & F at 2:00
The G to San Jorge leaves every morning at 8:30
I'm thinking of traveling from Granada to Honduras on buses end of December, because I love to see the changing landscape. Is this a stupid idea? I've taken bus rides from China over Nepal to India so I wouldn't mind the discomfort. But I don't want to do anything too adventurous over a 2 week vacation.
