Hello

I am getting mixed information about the boat schedule from Bluefields to Big corn island. I know for sure there is one on Wednesdays but I am more concerned about the weekend boat. In the guide books it says Saturdays but I recently talked to someone who just came from there and said they changed it to Sundays but then he said he wasn´t 100%. I don´t like the idea of getting stuck in Bluefields for 4 days so if anyone knows for sure what day the boat leaves that would be great. Thanks!!

Hi, I just got back from Nicaragua and as I found this travel forum helpful for shaping my trip, I wanted to share some of my experiences and services that I used and maybe someone else will find it helpful. It was my first time in the country and I really loved it. 30yr old female traveling solo and had no problems. I'm used to traveling and being mindful of my surroundings but also managed to go out and have a lot of fun.

From the airport to Granada - took Paxeos - I had made a reservation…

Hi everyone, I've spent hours over the last week reading the posts on this forum and it has been so useful, I thank everyone who posts on here!

We are going to Nicaragua in May to celebrate my 40th birthday, we were going to go to Madagascar but due to recent problems there decided to change destination and feel we have made a good choice from all I have read here.

I just wanted to post our itinerary to see if anyone has any comments or advice. We have been saving a long time for this…

I am planning to go to Nica in a couple of weeks and am wondering if it is possible (and easy... he he) to catch a direct bus from the airport in Costa Rica to Rivas or jumping off point to Isla de Ometepe. Any advice appreciated. I'd rather not catch a taxi to Coca-Cola in SJ and then a bus back north if I can avoid it.

Thanks!

Hello,

What is the best (safest, cheapest, most convenient) way to get around in Nicaragua? I do not want to rent a car, so what options are there in terms of public transport?

We’ll be going from Managua to Masaya or Granada, then Granada or Masaya to San Juan del Sur.

What is the cost approximately? Do you have to book in advance?

Thanks!

Nica trip

Hello,

I have a couple of questions. Does anyone have any reccomendations of a hotel at las penitas? From on-line research it looks like Barco de Oro and Semenke.net (sp?) has anyone stayed at either place. I am looking for somewhere clean and safe as I am travelling with my toddler and she will get into everything! Then also in Granada I was thinking Casa Sacajuonche or la siesta, does anyone have first hand experience with either? And on Ometepe is it worth the trip out to Hacienda…

Bus Travel

I have extensively been visiting Nicaragua for many years, but have always rented a vehicle. Due to the expense, questionable rental car management issues, vandalism to the vehicles, and the hassles with the police, I am opting to utilize the Express Bus system and have several questions and concerns about my safety. I have briefly checked the forums at Lonely Plant and the websites of the Express Buses (Central Line, TacaBus, & TransNica), but I am looking for your input and suggestions for…

This has taken me a year to get over, and a return trip to deal with, so I am just posting this now because I think people should know.

I was violently stabbed in Leon last year, and the man severed my nerves and muscles in my arm, requiring neuro and muscular surgery back in the UK. He never threatened me or even showed me the knife - he just grabbed and started stabbing. I am very lucky to be alive.

I am not writing this to discourage travel to Nicaragua - and to note, I am a well-seasoned…
