Hola Amigitos

I am here in Leon with a friend of mine and we would like to do some volunteering. Does anyone know of anywhere for us to do this? I have heard of Quetzaltrekkers but also heard that they require a 2 month minimum and this trip only allows us 2 weeks to volunteer here. We are both not picky about what we do, but would love to work with kids if that would be at all possible. I speak spanish though my friend does not; not sure if that is important to know but I am just putting it out there. Any suggestions anyone might have would be greatly appreciated. Gracias a ustedes for your time and advice!

Go to Via Via, or any of the Spanish language schools and just ask. You'll probably come across something. There's plenty of opportuniy there.

To be a Quetzaltrekkers GUIDE you need a 2 month minimum. To work with the organization that Quetzaltrekkers benefits--Las Tias--2 weeks should be fine. It sounds like even brief drop-in visitors are welcomed. Spanish is necessary, and you would be working with kids. I have not done this personally but I inquired about it @ the Quetzaltrekkers office when I was there. I'm not sure if you can actually set something up through the office or if you just need to drop by Las Tias on your own.
