Travelling alone through Nicaragua

SoloHobo, could you explain why Leon is dodgy at night? I ask because I am planning on spending extended time there solo. Thanks!

Just be careful, dont walk solo on desolate streets, like anywhere. Leon is great, but has it issues.

guys thanks soooo much for all your advice and help, especially re: where to stay in Managua! I was never planning on staying there for more than one night, i'll head straight down to Granada on Sunday morning if all goes to plan.

My boyfriend and his friends were considering starting a guesthouse/bar in SJDS, and i'm kind of on a scout hunt to check it out for them...but the more i read it the more it seems like a party beach full of uncultured western tourists only interested in drinking and surfing than experiencing a real piece of Nicaragua which is exactly what we're NOT looking for...any suggestions on some other beaches along the Pacific Coast which are chilled and beautiful???
