We are thinking of heading to Nicaragua with our kids 6 and 8 for a few weeks this summer. We spent 7 months traveling in Central and South America with them last year. Has anyone traveled with kids in Nicaragua RECENTLY? Would love to have thoughts on safety, adventures, places that have worked well with your own kids. We are reasonably savvy with sensible precautions but welcome input. Also will the rainy season in July/ August make the visit ill-advised? Has anyone attended the language school Proyecto Ecologico at Laguna de Apoyo? We are considering a week there to brush up on our Spanish. -Thanks, Colorado Family travelers

Haven't travelled with kids, but I can comment on the weather. Went to Nicaragua last July and the weather was fine, just a short storm in the evenings the whole time we were there. Days were mostly cloudy, but on the mornings when the sky was clear, we were begging for cloud cover, as the heat and humidity were terrible. Met other travellers who had been there in dry season, and said they would travel in July from then on as it was too hot dry season. July is technically 'green season', not 'rainy season', so no reason not to go and enjoy yourselves.

We will be spending 6 weeks traveling with our kids in Centaral America and the Caribbean starting December 2009. I want to find a language school that can accommodate our kids (7 and 9) as well. What did you find? Can you make any recommendations?
Thanks
