Had to repost; accidentally posted in Central America.

My plane gets in at midnight, and I am going to Matagalpa the next morning. What do you all think of just hanging around the airport until 4 AM and then catching the first bus out? I really hate to buy a hotel room for 4-5 hours. The airport is not the busiest in the world, and I'm not even sure they stay open past certain hours... it would definitely be an awkward wait... I was thinking of just hanging out near the rental car desks. I wonder if they would ask me to leave? Any thoughts?

I think someone else posted about this in the past month or two and it was mentioned that the airport closes for a few hours at night? I'm not sure if this is true, but you should check it out.

No, I thought Nicaragua was in Africa, actually. After doing some research, I can confirm that I was wrong and it is indeed in "Central America", which, I think, is somewhere near Kansas.

i did exactly what you're proposing with no problems last month. i arrived on a spirit flight around 1am and slept in the airport until about 6:30, when i caught an esteli bus right out front. (the matagalpa buses also pass directly in front of the airport on their way out of managua. it couldn't be more convenient. you don't even have to cross the street.)

as for the airport itself, there were a couple other people spending the night awaiting early morning flights, and the mopping crew was out in force. the place was bustling again by 6am. the security checkpoint, and therefore access to the gates, closes, but the airport itself is open all night. the chairs are pretty uncomfy, but otherwise it's not a bad place to pass a few hours. it´s even air-conditioned.
