Does anyone know of a nice hotel in San Juan del Sur? I am looking for something in the town, if possible, but I would like some place nice, not basic. I see the Pelican Eyes Hotel, but it looks like it is out of town.

Also, same type of place for Granada? Any one been to La Gran Francia?

Thanks!

Pelican eyes is within San Juan I think. Equally as nice is Villas de Palermo: http://www.villasdepalermo.com/
It's slightly cheaper than pelican eyes and offers large individual villas with terraces and balconies; there is also a large pool and a restaurant (not cheap, but the food was excellent). It is slightly out of town, but they have bikes you can borrow (rent?) and it's only a 5min cycle ride into town.
La Gran Francia looked lovely in Granada although we didn't stay there. It has a great outdoor balcony bar. Hotel Plaza Colon also looked great. http://www.hotelplazacolon.com/

La Gran Francia is very pretty and very upscale. It's about $90 a night, but it's worth every penny. If you can afford a hotel in that price range, I highly recommend it.

In Granada I highly recommend the Hotel Patio del malinche...

Pelican Eyes is more of a resort, if that's what you're lookng for i would also recomend it. It is in San Juan but not so close to the town area, just up the hill.

Pelican Eyes is Great, is in the town up the hill. Great view. In Granada, La Gran Francia is excellent, but try Hotel Plaza Colon.

SJ is only a handful of blocks anyway, and Pelican Eyes adjoins it, but is perched on a hillside offering brilliant views of sunset. I used to walk down from my luxury cabin in Pelican Eyes and pick up some pizzas at Jerry's Pizza and be back on my terrace eating them in about 10 minutes.
In Granada, the Casa San Francisco is excellent and luxurious for around 60 US for a double room inc a great breakfast in their parrot and toucan-infested patio.
