Anyone done this recently? When does the paved road end on the way to Siuna (from either Matagalpa or Boaco)? Is the unpaved road passable for a normal sedan? And how long does this drive take?

Would also be interested in information on the road from Siuna to Puerto Cabeza.

Thanks!

Right now not good. I just had a friend come stay from those parts a couple weeks ago. Its always pretty bad during the rainy season but its been extra flooded this year lately and has gotten tons of rains. He said a bridge recently washed out as well on the way to puerto cabezas.

I havent personally been that far east this year so i cant say first hand though

Thanks, I've never been to the country before and don't have a good sense of the geography. I presume that the road up to (at least) Matagalpa is always in good shape. At what general point does the road become more difficult? I know from Siuna onwards can be rough at times, but what about west of Siuna?
