Hi there

I have booked myself onto the King Quality bus stop in Managua for the 2.30am bus to Guatemala City. I am planning to get there one hour before (1.30am).

Does anyone know the King Quality bus stop, and if so, does it have a building where I can wait in at that time (with staff, so is safe)? As its going to be the middle of the night, I´m a bit concerned about my safety being on my own with all my stuff. If anyone has any advice, I´d really appreciate it. Also, do you think its a good idea to get a taxi from Granada (from the Bearded Monkey hotel) or should I stay in Managua that evening at a hotel until the bus time (although I don´t really need a room...).

Thanks in advance
Steph

230 am in the morning in Manuaga? yikes....be careful!

I would also avoid Bearded Monkey, Oasis and other options are better IMHO (Good Pancakes though)

You can take a taxi no problem, good luck arranging it though, not many guys want to drive at 230am, you might want to go to managua on a bus around Dinner, drop bags a better hotel, go to dinner or movie/play/music scene, and then return at 12 and wait it out at the hotel lobby, and then have them call a taxi for you....gather your belongings and head to terminal.

If it's anywhere near the ticabus station, it's pretty sketchy in the am. I would get a hotel in Managua the night before and dial a taxi like tim said. As long as there is a bus scheduled, they should have a waiting terminal (with a guard) for you.

Pretty random, but if you meet a gangster named Anthrax, who asks for a bit of cash - give him a bit. We did that when we arrived in Managua, thinking that it would never help us in any way, BUT, when we were walking the couple of blocks to the bus station at 3 am, he beat down a couple of crackheads that threatened us. Street justice at it's best...i guess..

King Quality station is located across the street from a mall known as Plaza Inter, in which you´ll find movie theaters, food court, internet cafe, bookstore. There is a nice hotel 1/2 a block away from the bus station called Crowne Plaza Managua with a nice casino in the first floor, that would be a good option to kill a few hours if you liked gambling or using the slot machines. There are also a couple of nice restaurants at the same hotel. The bus station is located at a corner, and also across the street there is an esso gas station with a convenience/restaurant open 24 hours (there is a security guard). Finally, there is a place called Casa de los Mejia Godoy which is a restaurant owned by the famous artist family Mejia Godoy. If they were playing that would be the perfect wrap up for your trip: good food and very nice nicaraguan music. There are also a couple of not expensive hotels a couple of blocks from the station, but I do not have any references on those.
Hope this is helpful
