Hi, you won't have a problem using any of the major banks' ATM's.

Ypu won't have a problem, even though #1 is not entirely right.
Most banks in NI use the VISA system, so those ATMs won't take your card. Luckily, one of the biggest banks accepts both. So look out for BAC banks, you'll find them in every major town on the Pacific side of the country. I think BDF accepts Maestro too, but I'm not sure. Banpro, Bancentro, Banco ProCredit and all other major banks don't.

Had a Maestro card the last two times I was in Nicaragua, had absolutely NO problem finding an ATM that supported it anywhere.

Thank you. I have another question - I suppose i have to post it as a new thread - and it will be last before we go in 10days' time! Thanks to everyone who has helped with my questions.

I couldn't use my Maestro card at BAC in Granada. They appear to take Cirrus not Maestro. I ended up having to fall back on my Mastercard.

That's odd. Must have been some ATM malfunction. I live in Nicaragua and have my European Maestro (not Cirrus) card to access my cash. I always withdraw money from BAC machines, and never had a problem. Granted, I never withdrew in Granada.

I'm really not sure. The machines (I tried more than one) had a Cirrus logo, but no Maestro one. I'd always assumed the two were interchangable, but apparently not. My Visa and Mastercard worked fine though.
