Thank you for the very detailed post here. I'm curious as to when you traveled? My 2013 guide says the boat ride from Los Chiles to San Carlos is about 2 hours, yet I noticed you said it was 10 - 11 hours. I'm planning a trip through this area in Janurary of 2015 and am just trying to come up with an itinerary. Also tou mentioned you took the bus from Arenal, not La Fortuna. Is that correct? If so, how long was that bus ride?
