How do we get from Laguna de Apoyo to Ometepe? Do we have to go back to Granada, then down to Rivas, San Jorge and then on to Ometepe?

And is there a bus that goes from Rivas up to Leon?

Thanks

Yes laguna de Apoyo is not that far from Granada anyway.
Not sure if a bus runs from Rivas to Leon. Maybe not direct but i know tourist shuttles run by paxeos go from Granada and Masaya to Leon.

it depends on what day. there are direct ferries from Granada to Ometepe, but only 2 days a week (i forget which days:) and they're likely much longer than the ones that run from San Jorge more frequently.

as Justin23 mentioned, you can get a private ride somehow. On Paxeos, in early Jan, we were quoted $140 to go from San Jorge to Leon. So, what we did was take the daily ferry from Ometepe to San Jorge, run & get on the "express" bus to Managua (which broke down quickly, but they got us on another bus) and then get an UVA (UGA?) minivan to Leon.
The whole thing probably cost less than $20.

if you want comfort and assurance then i'd try to work something out with one of the many tour companies that exist. in retrospect, running around was fun. it's totally do-able

FYI the ferries from Granada to Ometepe leave on Monday and Thursdays.
But its not as easy and convenient as the San Jorge ferry.
