Hello There everyone,
I wonder if I can get lucky and rent a flat ( house ) with 2 bedrooms in Managua on mid March onwards ( 2 months only)-( some how ,flexible dates)
We need it to be central and safe-please give us any feedback, we are also trying the newspapers there and word to mouth, but just in case there is somebody out there whom knows somebody...
We can pay no more than $350
AZ

Possible but US$350 for a 2 bedroom isn't going to be in a great area.
You'll pay more if you're a gringo and there isn't a lot of short term stuff available.
Might be better doing adeal with a hotel!?
If you speak Spanish look around Altimira and Belio Horizonte!

You might not find an apartment in an upscale area, but you can certainly find something in a nice, safe area on that budget. I live in a safe, centrally located neighborhood, in a nice house, with lots of great fritangas and bars nearby, for $400 a month. Most houses in Managua are 3-4 bedroom and the price isn't going to vary much if the same square footage is distributed between just 2 bedrooms. You may find a 2 bedroom apt for around that or less, I have seen listings in Altamira, Bello Horizonte, Reparto San Juan, Colonia Centroamerica etc for rooms and apts in that price range. There are lots of websites with listings (you´ve problably done a google search by now), and I've seen some listings for furnished places, which I assume you want if you are only going to be there for a few months. If you don´t find anything you like, you might check out "Las piramides" an apartment building in Rpto San Juan right behind la UCA (not to be confused with the hotel of the same name, also in Rpto San Juan). The apts are a little tired looking, but it´s a nice, central and safe neighborhood, you always have water, they are furnished with everything including stove/gas tank, fridge, cable TV, etc, and the price is right. They have studios, 1-3 (maybe 4) bedroom places, in the $100-300 range. I lived there for a month and it was fine. For two months it will be hard to rent a house unless you have a personal connection, as most ask for a 6 month contract. Las piramides asks for neither a contract nor a deposit. You might want to stay at a hotel for the first week while you look for a place. For small apts annexed to a house the best way to look is walking around neighborhoods. This will also help you know if you would want to live in the area. Good luck!
