I remember going through old posts and reading that a tour of the Flor de Caña factory is possible and very worthwhile.
How can this be arranged? And how does one get there?

Now if you could combine that with a tour of the Zacapa factory, several regional breweries and a few cigar factories you would have a great CA tour. Looks like the local travel agencies are dropping the ball on this.

When visiting Chichigalpa, arrange a tour by calling the Flor de Caña distillery (tel. 505/343-2344) in advance and asking for a guided tour. Try asking for Simon Pedro Pereira. This is paraphrased from the outstanding Moon Handbook and at the moment of writing the tour was free, but alas, no free samples.
