Directions to Finca Neblina del Bosque???

Actually the finca is situated in the Miraflor natural reserve. Buses leave from the Cotran Norte busstation in Esteli between 6 a.m and 15:40 to Miraflor. Tell the driver or other passengers you want to get off at the Rampla busstop and walk 300 meters up the hill, the finca is at the top of the hill at your right hand site. If you have your own car ask for directions in Esteli.
No reason to get paranoid #1# is suggesting. It is quite normal in Nicaragua that streets have no names or houses no numbers. I used to live in Matagalpa and my adres was "where once was the ministery of ecucation, three blocks uphill to the east, 3th house at your lefthandside". succes...

Globaler, thanks for the information....we will be driving a rental and would like to be able to pinpoint the location so we can leave out as much margin for error as possible. The language will be a barrier and asking for directions will be very difficult, much less understanding them. Now I do know that you turn somewhere in Esteli at a Uno Gas Station number two (ex Star mart) in Estelí turn east into the road bound Yali until you get to the fork in the road, with an old house in between the two roads. Take a left and follow the same road to the "Rampa" bus stop, then travel 400 meters uphill.

Of course, I would like to use Google maps to pinpoint the general area, but given I can't decipher their map or directions due to not being able to locate the Rampa bus stop.... I was hoping someone familiar with the area would possibly respond. I do know it is 27 km from Esteli, and I do know where Miraflor is.....those are both on google maps.

All in all, I just need to determine if it is too far off my projected pathway.

We were not happy with Finca Neblina del Bosque. Granted, the weather was bad but the couple who owns the finca were not friendly or helpful. She never talked to us, never said hello and wouldn't engage in conversation. He told us he could not find a guide to take us higher up in the cloud forest because of the weather and pointed to a trail near the finca which was okay but not what we had hoped for. The food was good but not always enough. There are lots of cheaper fincas around and I would definitely choose a different one next time (even if it is more basic).

Thank you so much for this information! I had pretty much decided to stay at Cuallitlan Hotel, which has cabins in Esteli. I think it will provide us a good place from which to travel to Somoto Canyon and the Tisey Reserve. I have spoken to the owner of Cuallitlan Hotel and she seems very gracious and helpful. Thanks again...and this is why I like Lonely Planet!!
