Greetings!
My fiancé and I (age 30 from California) are currently on a trip around the world and we want the final leg of our trip to be dedicated to learning/practicing Spanish in Central or South America for a minimum of 4 hours per day at a reputable Spanish immersion school/program for 1-6 months...depending on how well we enjoy it:)

Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Costa Rica and Nicaragua have all been recommended to us for safety, low cost and clear Spanish.

I am writing to ask for your specific recommendations on a reputable school that is in a coastal town (with good weather June-Nov) that is ideally not filled with expats where we could also enjoy activities such as: salsa dancing, fitness classes, kite surfing, diving and hiking.

We are open to either renting our own place off campus, or we'd be happy to live with a family if it were a good, comfortable situation. Also, we are open to volunteering in exchange for classes. Our work specialties are education, fitness, farming operation and construction.

Thank you for your feedback- we really appreciate any advice that you have to offer. We look forward to hearing your replies:-D

Having visited almost all these country i would recommend Columbia, in my opinion they speak the best spanish in Latin America. look for a place to stay in or near Cartagena at the carribean coast....lots of diving, salsa and hiking..
Altough Nicaragua is my favorite country i would not recommend it because of the way they speak spanish, succes..

Guatemala is nice place to, Lake Atitlan or Antigua, but its more touristy than you may want to stomach. Keep in mind you usually only get 90 days tourist Visa for most countries...I hear great stuff about Colombia too...

If you are interested in studying in Nicaragua, Mariposa language school is very reputable. It's located about 25km from Managua and Masaya and away from all tourist destinations. People who attend this school are there to study and speak Spanish and you will definitely pick up the language if you are dedicated to it. If you are hoping to study and hang out in a tourist destination, this is not for you. Mariposa can also give you a home stay with a local family as well.
