Can anybody help me? My boyfriend and I really fancy a trip to Nicaragua but we only have a max time of about 17 days in february. Am finding it hard to get a flight that's under £700. Our nearest international airport is Manchester.
Is there anyone who has been recently and might have some tips on who to fly with or where to go via for the cheaper deals??? Also any ideas on what to do while we are there, as am so limited for time! The Corn Islands look so lovely but are they expensive when your there? What there is to do? Recommendations on where to stay? Etc, so many questions....

have you checked other contries' airports? from Indianoplace, fares to belize, guatemala, and honduras are double what they are for costa rica, nicaragua, and panama. thats why Im going to Panama in january.
when i visited nicaragua a few years back, fares to san jose CR were significantly lower than to Managua, so I took a bus.
I spent a few days on corn grande. Inexpensive, the way i did it (casa blanca). It wasnt anything to rave about. If thats the kind of scene youre into, you might instead try belize cayes (numerous trips) or ???bocas del toro Panama (no experience)

iberia has become very expensive lately! try american airlines (london - san jose in february for 467 british curruncy). goes through the us which is no problem as long as you have the right passport and dont need a visa. flights to managua will usually be a lot more expensive. bus service from san jose to managua is good and inexpensive.

You may want to check San Jose Costa Rica, SJO, take bus 6 hours to border, 9 hours to Managua, or even Liberia LIR which is just 2 hours from Nica border, but overall, its never cheap to Nicaragua. Costa Rica has more international flights than any country in the entire region.

I think you should be looking. It helps if you are flexible by just a bit with your dates. I found MAN-MIA for $523 total on US Airways and MIA-MGA for $229 total on Taca. Or a single itenerary from Opodo is 559 GBP:

Try to understand the itinerary posted by #5. You'll realize (I hope) that it's a detailed trip, including time and duration of flights, lenght of connections, etc.
The fact that you are not willing to spend 2 minutes "deciphering" something that is very clear, doesn't make it a "mess".
Some forum members go to great lenghts to provide the most accurate help to people they've never heard about. Why throw stones if one can't help with information with at least equal value?
