Anyone who knows how to make a reservation for a passenger ticket from Granada to San Carlos via Lago de Nicaragua? I´m going to take the 14 hour long boatride Thursday April 23rd in order to get to Rio San Juan (RSJ).
Cheers,
Eva

You won't need a reservation. Just get there early and get 1st class. It's a couple bucks extra and it's usually a sea of white faces and not very 1st classy but you will be slightly more comfortable and it is nice to sit on the deck and watch the stars. Bring warm clothing as the lake gets cold at night and the inside cabin is FREEZING. A friend of mine brought a hammock and was able to put it up on the boat. I didn't get much sleep but they usually let you crash on the boat for a bit once it docks in San Carlos. Have fun it's a pretty interesting ride.

Thanks for the advice! Have you tried sailing onwards down the RSJ from San Carlos?

Lots of info on how to get on and down the Río San Juan from San Carlos here, from a host of different posters:

I took this ferry from Ometepe. This is a loooong ride. I don't think there is such a thing as reservations, but definitely get 1st class tickets. I would also try to carry a hammock if you can. You will welcome a break from the cold hard deck. I don't know what your budget is, but I flew back to Managua from San Carlos for about $65. There in 45 minutes.
