Will be arriving in Nicaragua in one week and taking a Paxeos shuttle to Granada. We wanted to stay at Hostel Oasis but their reservation policy (i.e. deposit via western union) proves to be too expensive!!! Other places suggested on this board like the Bearded Monkey and ViaVia dont seem to be our cup of tea.
Can anyone suggest an alternate to Hostel Oasis for at least our first nite (we'd like reserve something for at least the first night)? Something in the same area/price range?

I ended up going through old threads and found recommendations for Hotel Dorado, where we've secured a reservation.
So...nevermind the question!

Boris & Marcela are very responsive, helpful & it's the kind of place where you feel like you're family. It's close enough to the main drag that it's a 10 minute walk (if you're walking slowly) but far enough away that you're not in Tourist Granada.
it's nice.
plus it's affordable and they have all sorts of good stuff: filtered water for much cheaper than you can get in the store (fill up your own bottle); laundry; use of the kitchen; french crepes for breakfast, etc.

i tried to book a reservation with oasis but it didn't work so i just showed up and they had spots availabe. i've also stayed at the bearded monkey. its really popular among backpackers and if your looking to meet fellow travelers it would be a good place to stay. it's not the cleanest but it is cheap, or it was when i was there.
