Has anyone stayed in Utila and has some good advice on a good safe, fun, clean place to stay?

Is just cause there seem to be a lot of options, so i would like to have feedback from people that already stayed somewhere! :)

Hi TT folks,
I am considering a trip to Utila to get certified and do a bunch of dives in early/mid December. I've read that in Utila it is the rainy season, visibility on the N . side can be poor, and the weather is rough, which sounds like it can eliminate diving on the N. Side of the island. Any opinions on diving at that time of the year?

Also, I'm considering doing the on the coursework portion of the PADI online before I go--anybody done that? How much (classroom) time does that save…

When you go to Puerto Cortes to catch the boat to Placencia/Dangriga, Belize on the Mon, get off at Barra La Laguna on the highway-don't go right into Puerto Cortes, walk across the road & go over the bridge. I will be in Honduras for a couple of weeks at the end of the year and I was thinking of spending New Year's eve in Utila.
I have been in Utila before, so I know how to go about the diving, sleeping, and eating, but I am curious to know how lively it is during that time of the year.

I was in Roatan for last new years and everything was pretty much dead by 2 am. Should I go to Utila, or just stay put in Tegus?
