We just had some friends come back from Copan last night and they said that local protestors had closed the park and blocked the entrance. We're planning an upcoming trip and would like to know if the problem has been resolved or if it looks like the park may be closed through Semana Santa! Can anyone provide updates? Thanks!

Is it safe to assume that I'll be able to start a PADI open water certification course any day of the week? Or should I plan in advance when to show up on Utila?

Thanks,
Andy

I have a dual aim for my Central America trip and they are to a) Learn Spanish b) Do my Divemaster course.

I was wondering if Utila would serve both aims???

Or do any of the other Bay Islands have Spanish Schools?

Help!

Many Thanks in Advance

Hi

I'm Ryan, currently a PADI open water diver and want to train to be a divemaster and then an instructor.
Was looking at the internship on Roatan from subway watersports (http://www.subwaywatersports.com/Courses/internship.htm) looks class exactly what I'm looking for.
Was just wondering if anyone can tell me anymore about it? Any of you done it? When would be the best time to do it (for the weather and diving)? How likely am I to see Whale sharks, as I'd be there for 2 months?

Thanks guys
Ryan

Hey, we're thinking about booking a 3 week trip to Honduras but wanted to ask a few questions first:

  1. In general, what's the weather like in western Honduras and the Bay Islands?
  2. Is this a good time to go scuba diving? What will the visibility be like?
  3. Besides the obvious destinations, what would you recommend we visit?
  4. Is this a busy time there? Do I have to book ahead for accomodation? I'd prefer to just show up and plan things as we go.
  5. Do many of the budget/midrange hotels have…

We spent 2 and 1/2 weeks in Honduras this March. I've tried to include the details that people seem to ask about but I'm happy to answer any questions too.

We arrived in San Pedro Sula at about 11:30 a.m. and took about 90 minutes to clear the airport.

Our driver was waiting patiently for us. We'd arranged the driver through Miguel Martel (504-962-00372 or andresik04@hotmail.com) and were very pleased. The 2009 van was very comfortable, the driver was very skilled, and Miguel gave very…

My girlfriend and I are taking a working vacation on Utila which will be a whole lot more productive with decent internet. Can someone tell me the best spots to go for a good connection and if I can expect to be able to stream video? Any other recommendations on Utila are welcome, too.

Thanks,
Andy

My wife, sister and I have just returned from a 2-week vacation in Honduras. We rented a car (see Practicalities below). So I thought I’d post my personal perspective on the pros and cons of renting a car (vs. traveling by public transit) in Honduras.

Reasons to Rent a Car

1. Follow your own rhythms.
Create your own schedule. Leave when you want. Go where you want to go. Linger where you want to linger.

2. Stop anywhere, any time.
I’m a photographer. Whenever I saw something interesting - a…

Its seems like my procrastination has put me in a bind. My gf and I are off to Roatan starting the 5th of April. We, ideally, would like a place centrally located and w/ a budget of 50 or less, and private banos. So far I've tried to make reservations and been denied by Posado Arco Iris, Posado las Orquideas, Mariposa lodge, and Coconut Tree cabins. I'm waiting on a reply from Sea Breeze Inn and I can't find the website for Half Moon Bay Resort (the one listed halfmoonbaycabins.com doesn't…
