Does anyone know if it's possible to rent a fully furnished place here. I've heard that there are only empty places. But it would really help if I don't have to invest in a bunch of furniture while I'm there.
I am a freelance photographer who is headed to Guatemala and Honduras on Jan. 10th. I was planning on spending 2 1/2 weeks in Honduras and was curious to know how safe everything is since the coup d'etat last July. Has tourism been down? Should I expect prices to be cheaper because of it? My girlfriend and I are planning on heading to Rotan and would love to get suggestions of budget places to stay. Anything we shouldn't miss in Honduras? Should I be any more worried about safety in Honduras…
Hi There,
I'm looking to find a decent hotel or hospedaje near the airport in La Ceiba.
Also if you have a better recommendation for somene flying in late one night and leaving for Roatan on the next morning ferry, I'd be glad to hear it.
Cheers
I'm looking to rent a car and explore Roatan for a day or two. Anyone have any suggestions (positive or negative) about a rental car company there? Thanks in advance!
I'm hoping to spend New Year's Eve on Utila, and was planning on leaving on the 1st. However, a dive shop told me they won't be running ferries on the 1st. Can anyone confirm this?
If the ferry isn't running, I was thinking
(A) I could fly to SPS on the 1st. OR
(B) I'd leave Utila early, but am wondering (1) will public transport be running on the mainland, and (2) how does New Year's on the mainland (la ceiba or copan ruinas) compare with Utila?
Any thoughts?

I plan to be in the Yojoa area January 2010. I stayed in 2008 with D&D, so wrote 2 emails to Robert Dale for reservation.
So far no answer for about a week. Can anyone confirm whether D&D is still in business? Thanks.
Any ideas where I should try to be for Christmas in Honduras? I´m on my own at the moment, travelling by bike. I´m trying to leave the rain behind on the caribbean coast so don´t want to go that way. I´m in Progresso heading for Lago Yajoa tomorrow. I would of course like to have some company and maybe a drink or few.
Thanks, Sally
and a very Merry Christmas!
Hello Friends,
I am hoping someone can help me with the following concern. I am trying to find information on a specific bus. My central america lonely planet states that there is a bus that leaves San Pedro at 1pm and arrives in San Salvador 7 hours later. However, I am in Honduras right now (In La Ceiba) and I cannot find any information on this bus. ie I am not sure it exists.
I am trying to get from Utilla (Bay Islands) to San Salavador on the same day. This require me getting to San Pedro…
Googling around I found an old US consular info sheet that says:
"Route 43 in northwest Olancho Department from Talanga to Olanchito via Yoro route 23 will become a primary route to the north coast when the remaining portions of the highway of the highway are paved, as is expected to occur in 2005."
Anyone travelled this way recently? What shape is this route in these days? I don't expect that it's actually paved, because then all the buses from Tegucigalpa to La Ceiba would go that way, but…
