Coming to Honduras on Saturday for 2 weeks - have checked out current weather & it looks pretty warm. We're going to Copan, Pico Bonito & Roatan.
Do I need
a) waterproofs/ umbrella
b) something warm to wear - at the moment am just planning on bringing tracksuit top/light cardie
C) anything smart to wear - for eating out etc.

Thanks

I was in Pico Bonito a couple January's ago...I just get wet...doesn't bother me a bit. There was only cold running water where I was staying as well.

I am on Roatan now... a couple days ago it was 72 with rain. It was so very pleasantly cool! I find it to warm to wear any kind of rain gear.

People on Roatan figure of you have clean clothes on you are dressed.

Most people go on holiday with far to many clothes...to much dang stuff! Travel light it is so much better!

By the by ~ it is raining with a bit of a breeze now. I am on my way out for a walk with the dogs in shorts and a T shirt.

Enjoy your Holiday!

You're a lucky duck - I don't get to head back to Honduras until July. I haven't been to Honduras in May but I've been there in June, July, and August. I like taking a really light-weight goretex jacket and a light zip-up fleece but the closest I usually come to dressing up is my sarong as a skirt with my cleanest blouse. I take shorts for beachy areas but feel more comfortable in capris or longer in Copán Ruinas. Everything I travel with is "wicky" and comfortable, washes easily and dries quickly.

I agree with she_travels that packing really light is the way to go; my packing list is #15 in the FAQ thread if you're interested and check out onebag.com for lots of great ideas. Have a wonderful trip and please be sure to tell us all about it.

Can't imagine you'll need any warm clothes. It is always good to wear something a little bit nicer at night in Latin America, since that is what the locals do.

I was in Roatan last May and it was very dry. I even went to Pico Bonito and and the river was too low for rafting! Everywhere is casual.

I had a small umbrella with me and we needed it one day last week on Roatan - it poured! (The other days were fabulous though.) I had thrown that umbrella in my suitcase at the last minute and I was very glad I had it. The other thing I wish I had taken was a second pair of comfortable sandals. I wore a pair that were very comfortable when we visited Guatemala in December, and I thought that they would be fine. Well, maybe it was because of the heat, but one of the sandals rubbed and I ended up with a blister. I tried to wear flip flops, but I really don't find them comfortable for any length of time, and I ended up with a small blister between my toes. Not comfortable.

Other than that, we wore shorts and t-shirts most days. I usually changed into longer pants in the evening.
