Have any readers done this since the start of the political turmoil? Is daylight road travel safe? Can suitable, secure parking be found in the port's terminal? Which port would be best? Would the 2007 Lonely Planet Honduras be worth purchasing and mailing to me here in Mexico? The shipping costs way more than the book.

Gracias!

I haven't driven in Honduras but I don't believe there's secure parking at the port - you'd have to make arrangements with a security outfit in La Ceiba, maybe. I don't like the Lonely Planet guide but it might be worth if it was the Moon Handbook that you ordered.

To avoid the cost of shipping a book, you can purchase any individual LP chapters you need online and download them in PDF. Print what you need for the day and take it with you.
