I'm planning to fly into San Pedro Intl and then fly to Roatan for some R&R. I wanted to know if there are any domestic airlines that fly from San Pedro. How much should round trip cost me (domestically)? How long would travel by land/sea take? and cost? I'd rather fly due to time restraint.

Also, are there any sites that list hotels in roatan? or should I just show up and negotiate? I'm looking for a place on the beach in West End. I'd rather have a reservation prior to leaving.

Try Taca air. Prob $400 Return, one hour flight. Saves you a long ass bus and ferry ride. I recommend it if you have the coin.
Land sea was...trying to remember. 2 hours total for the ferry, 6 hours bus? $25 for ferry, $40 bus. (check Headman Altas)
About that? Anone can jump in here to correct me.

Chilis hostel is on the beach, I think $20 a night.
Posada Iris beside it is pretty nice under $50 a night private room and hot water bath.
Hidden Garden Cabins, off the main drag but have a kitchen, and decent price.
Beachhouse is right on the water, pricy but nice, private patios facing the ocean directly.

Thats all I can remember. I would book in advance if you are going over xmas,

have fun :)

Flights are a little over $100 each way, though lately there have been some specials (Easy Sky is the new kid on the block, and is bringing down prices). CM Airlines is pretty good.
If you don't need the fancy bus, the regular bus is just a little over $5 and takes 3 1/2 hours. Ferry is 1 1/2 hours, and costs about $27, though they are apparently running specials too, because Easy Sky is offering a flight from La Ceiba to Roatan at $27.

#1 why would you fly Taca for $400 for SPS to Utila, when 3 other local carriers serve the islands for $120?

Taca maybe flies direct to Roatan from another country, as does Continental & American among others. But the poster say he flying into SPS.

From SPS there are flights to Utila/Roatan direct or a stop in La Ceiba. Or you can bus to La Cieba and ferry to islands, though afternoons the seas can be rougher. You can also sail between Uitla and Roatan as well, on Verns Catamaran $55.

SPS to Roatan, I arrived at 1130am from Houston in Conti/United, had lunch, and bought a ticket for 330pm departure. CM Airlines $117 O/W. All the puddle jumper counters are next to eachother at airport when you exit Immigration. Stayed un West End area (Blennys House) for $60 night, dove 4 days, and then took Verns to Utila, took Advanced course at UDC, stayed at their Mango Inn 4 nights, then ferry to La Cieba, shuttle to SPS, stayed downtown at Gran Sula $50, flight out 11am next morning.

I take it you are going there for scuba diving, many dive shops offer free or reduced lodging prices if you dive/take courses as well.

A couple of years ago I flew TACA from San Jose (CR) to Roatan on TACA. The flights were fine, but TACA lost our luggage for a couple of days. According to TACA it was our problem. We even had to pay to have it delivered to our hotel a couple of days later. Talking to the hotel staff, this problem is not that uncommon if you fly TACA via San Pedro Sula to Roatan. Unless the situation has improved in the last couple of years I would take at least one change of clothes and a bathing suit in a carryon.

I took the ferry back to the mainland and flew home from San Pedro Sula. The ferry was fine but definitely takes longer than flying. If you are planning to overnight in San Pedro Sula I would also recommend booking a place to stay in advance. When I was there a number of the recommended places were booked when we tried to get a room.
