We are traveling to Honduras on May 17 and returning May 30. The first four days will be spent in the West at the Ruins, Santa Rosa, and Gracias. On the 21st we are heading to Pico Bonito and probably on the 25th or 26th going to Roatan.
Normally, I don't like to book ahead and instead like finding hotels when I get into the city. But I am concerned that the Festival will book everything up (really 200,000 people?). I think that we are going to book Omega for the 21-24, since we want to be in Pico Bonito and it seems like this might book up.
1) Will the festival affect the western portion of our trip? I assume not but figure I should ask.
2) Will the festival affect getting to Roatan by ferry (technically we are traveling the day after the festival but that might make it worse)
3) Will the festival affect finding accommodations in Roatan (ie should we book ahead).
4) Not going to spend too much time at the Festival and curious if there is a time or location we should definitely hit for the festival? From what I have read, Friday night is really good for music in the east of La Ceiba, and Saturday evening is good for the "parade" and more music.
Never been to Honduras and from all the posts on here, and the guidebook, I am really excited.
