Hi there,

I'm planning got to La Ceiba for 4 days beginning November.
I read that Pico Bonito Park is a must in the region, how many days should I dedicate to the park?
How can I reach the park by public transportation?
Does an organized tour worth the extra money?
Is cheap accomodation available in the park?
Any other attraction at la Ceiba or nearby?
Any tips for accomodation at La Ceiba?

Sorry for so many questions, I've never gone there and I have so little time to gather info.

Thanks
Sandra

We stayed 3 nights at Omega Lodge on the edge of Pico Bonito and loved it. We felt the tours were well worth the cost and the lodge offers free accommodation if you buy a tour. We rafted, rode horses up through mountain villages, and kayaked through Cacao Lagoon to a deserted Caribbean beach. A week or 2 later I hiked to the El Bejuco waterfall with a guide from my Spanish school; Omega offers that hike, too, and it was wonderful. There are a few Garifuna villages in the area you might want to check out, but save plenty of time for the islands! Photos and travelogue links below. Enjoy!
