Am heading to Honduras in a few weeks, flights booked to San Pedro Sula. Then looking to do a week in Utila followed by a week in Roatan.

Can anyone help with up to date info re best way to get SPS - Utila - Roatan - SPS?
Not backpacking this trip, just a holiday so time's important, need to try and find the quickest way of doing it.

Any help much appreciated.

Dave.

You can fly from SAP to Utila via La Ceiba, then fly to Roatán via La Ceiba, then fly to SAP from Roatán via La Ceiba. The flights are a little more limited coming and going to Utila than Roatán. There are also ferries available between La Ceiba and Utila and La Ceiba and Roatán, twice a day each way to each island and twice from each island. Charlie Meador has links to the airlines on his Coco Pando site. Keep us posted!

I just got back from honduras a few weeks ago.

Flew into SPS, took a 3 hour bus ride to la ceiba.
Ferry from La ceiba to Utila, about one hour long.
Ferry from Utila back to la ceiba, then on to Roatan.

Janet (#2) - Curious, what were the prices on the ferries you took, and what company did you use?

there is only one ferry that goes to each island. The galaxy goes from la ceiba to roatan and back, and the utila princess goes to utila and back. The utila princess is cheaper, about 300 lempiras to go to utila and a bit more to come back. The Galaxy to roatan was more, I think it was over 400 lempiras to go to roatan, probably more to come back but I flew home directly from roatan so I'm not sure.

Hey Dave,

I'm in the same boat as you. Going to Utila for a week and no backpacking around this time. here is some info I got from Frank (Morgan's Travel - Utila). See email below:

Hey Frank,

My flight arrive late April 13 @ 1145PM, so I guess The next day @ 1430 would be the best alternative. For my return, my flight leaves around midnight on April 20(into the 21), so what time would the charter flight be leaving the island at?

Time is of the essence, more time on the island = more fun, so knowing my arrival and departure times in and out of San Pedro Sula, what is the fastest to get to the island, bus to La Ceiba and the ferry or the flights?

Thanks for this information Frank.

LaRy

OK, for the 14th i can get you a flight with Sosa Airlines leaving SAP/LCE at 9am. arrieve at 9;30am. fare $75 then take a charter flight from LCE/UTL leaving at about 10am. fare $182
For the departure you can take a ferry leaving at 6:20am arrieve at 7:20am.fare $25 or a charter UTL/LCE 8am. fare $182 then get the Sosa Airlines flight from LCE/SAP leaving at 9:45 am arrieve at 10:15am. fare $75.
or the last option is to take a ferry leaving at 2pm. UTL/LCE arrieve at 3pm.then take a bus LCE/SAP(3 hour trip) there is one leaving about 4pm.
Frank

Hope that helps.

So you can fly San Pedro Sula - Utila with a connection in LaCebia for a mere
$257....interesting option if ya have the cash.

I am sure I have heard more than once about charters from Roatan to Ultia as well but I am not sure where that info is. Maybe your hotel can help ya out with that.

The flight from SPS to Utila, on a Monday Wednesday and Friday, costs $120 one way and departs at 2.30p, check in 2pm. It stops briefly at La Ceiba for a fuel change and pick up.

The return flight does not go to Roatan but La Ceiba (or SPS) on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, for about $65, then you can switch to Roatan.

There are also private yacht charters than can be arranged between Roatan and Utila and you can check www.hedmanalas.com for the bus schedules.

I hope this helps and talk soon.

Warm regards,
Andy
