Do non-US citizens need a visa for Honduras?

The way you phrase the question makes no sense at all. What does the US have to do with anything?

Does a Canadian Passport, require a Visa in advance, to enter Honduras? NO - A Canadian Passport does not require a Visa in advance to visit.

**You may need verification of health related to the H1N1 now though, so bring your health certificate (Yellow). You also should have Typhoid/Dyptheria, Tetnus booster, and Hep A-B jabs IMO.

As for Scandinavia, thats a region, not a country, so you need be more specific,

Denmark, Norway and Sweden Passport holders, do not require a Visa in advance as well.

Thanks for your replies. To clarify a few matters:

• The relevance of the US is that, as stated in my original post, the latest feedback I have from my local Honduran consulate in the US is that Americans are the only foreigners who can enter Honduras without a visa. Therefore, a useful data point for me would be someone saying "I'm not a US citizen but I entered Honduras recently without a visa." This would give me an opening to continue the discussion with the consulate without merely saying "Can you go back and check as this really doesn't sound right to me."

• There is one Honduran Embassy in Scandanavia - it's in Sweden and provides services for other Scandanavian countries (and a few other countries as well, for that matter). The key point is that Honduran consulates outside the US say no visa required for people of certain nationalities.

• As for Googling - arrghh! - this is exactly my point. I have googled this thing to death and everything I can find says no visa needed for people from certain countries (both on Honduran consulate websites that - unlike the website for the Honduran Embassy in the US - get into the nitty-gritty, and also on more general visa websites). My issue, as per my original post, is that I'm being told something by a Honduran Consulate in the US that is at variance with everything else I am reading.

• Chefhagan - I hear you, it would indeed be helpful for me to provide my nationality, but I'm not comfortable doing so in this forum, as this would make me far too identifiable. In any event, it's not really necessary as I'm really just after a data point that disproves the proposition that Americans are the only foreigners who can enter without a visa.

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to provide further feedback (and esp to anyone who can give me the data point I need to tell the consular folks here "Actually, I've heard that people from [x country] have been able to enter Honduras in the last [week or whatever] without a visa, so could you please recheck your information."

There is a big difference between needing a Visa prior to enter, and receiving a Visa upon entry. Canada, USA and Swedish Countries I mentioned, do NOT require a Visa in advance for entry, they will be granted a Tourist Visa upon Entry.

A Chinese Passport holder for example, needs to secure a Visa from the Honduran embassy, for the period they are visiting Honduras, in advance of entering Honduras. If they show up at border, they would be refused entry without a Visa. They would have to go to the Nearest Honduran Embassy and wait for a Visa to enter the country.

The US citizenship is no more relevant in your inquiry than being a Cuban Citizen, A Nicaraguan, as they all can enter with a Valid Passport, and will get a tourist Visa upon entry.

State your Citizenship/Passport origin, then ask the question about a Valid Visa prior to entry, at airports and or borders.

Well, our first secret agent! So, in answer to your question, no, most countries do not need a visa for Honduras. And yesterday was a holiday here.

SoloHobo - Yes, I'm well aware of the distinction between visas prior to entry and visas on arrival. You'll see that sentence #1 of post #1 refers to visas prior to travelling to Honduras. OK, maybe I should have stated this in full on each subsequent reference but, hey ... whatever. I've already addressed your points about US vs. non-US, and why I'm not prepared to state my nationality, so please let's consider those points closed.

Thanks to all who have provided info. If anyone who is neither a US nor Honduran citizen can confirm that they entered Honduras recently without getting a visa before arriving at the border, that would be the most useful feedback for me at this point.

Just for your comfort, I know personally, Germans, Nicaraguans, Costa Ricans, Norwegians, Australians, Canadians, Irish and French citizens who have gone to Honduras in the last month and did not need a visa.
And actually, here, it is not called Columbus Day.

If your EU then no. One thing to make sure of though..get your passport stamped going in. Otherwise maybe some problems going out.. and you may be asked to pay US$ 4.00 on exit if you go through that crazy border post near Copan Ruinas into Guatemala by the Guatemalan border police.
