Arriving at SAP at 11am on a weekday in late Sept.
Hedman Alas bus does not leave until 2:15pm with a sched arrival in La Cieba after 6pm. I am unable to find a bus sched for other bus companies mentioned (Catisa-Tupsa or Diana Epress). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Trying to make the 4pm Utila ferry or the 4:30pm Roatan ferry. Still undecided which island we want to visit first but def want to make one of these ferrys.

Any advice/suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

I was in the same situation in June... except our plane did not land until nearly 12:30. We hopped a cab to the bus terminal and caught a 1pm bus (they leave hourly). It was a pretty rough bus ride, hot and with several stops.... certainly not like the super fresa Hedman Alas bus. We arrived in La Ceiba at about 4:20. A frantic 10 minute cab ride just barely got us on the 4:30 to Roatan. I believe the line was Cotuc. It was cheap too. Despite the heat and less than stellar condition of the bus, it did not lack in character. I found myself missing the second (sixth?) class bus on our very dull return trip on Hedman Alas.
Good luck. The good news is that La Ceiba is a hopping little town if you miss the ferry. Plus the countryside along the way is beautiful (though there is a lot of trash right along the highway)
. I wrote about the bus trip and some other parts of the trip on my blog, if you are interested....

Man, you're hard core, Cotuc is horrible but then my chicken bus days are well behind me. It seems Viana's buses quite closely follow Hedman's schedule, except the firt ones of the day (Hedman 5:15, Viana 6:30am), but I agree withy the above comment: Ceiba is a pretty fun place to have to spend an evening. But in short, I've arrived on an 11 am flight a number of times (this July) and made it to Ceiba in time for the last boats, but it can be harrowing.... Truth is, you don't need to have advance info on the other bus companies; if you don;t mind the lack of comfort, you will get to the docks in Ceiba on time by asking as soon as you get into the airport. A good idea I've done a few times is to start asking other passengers in the customs line if anyone's going to Ceiba and then pooling together for a taxi, faster still! And it was even cheaper shared than the Hedman buses. Just a thought

Think about flying! The small airlines are very price competitive right now. In June I flew CM Airlines from Roatan to San Pedro for L900. Ferry would have cost L500 plus Hedman Alas for L350 and at least three taxies at L100 to L200 each.

Check out Lanhas Airlines, CM Airlines, Rollins Airlines and SOSA

In July the price was 63 dollars one way SPS to Ceiba, that's well worth it in my opinion

Thinking about taking bus still but grabbing a flight back from Roatan.

Can flights be arranged in Roatan as easy or is it best to book while at airport in San Pedro?

I was staying at the Mariposa. Sue the owner simply called CM Airlines and put me on the list, I paid at the counter pre-flight.

No, it's a piece of cake from either place, plus you can book it from the airport there or by calling Ceiba or San Pedro offices
