My wife and I will be in Honduras in March-April 2011. First part of our trip will be up in the cloud forest at Pico Bonito Eco Lodge. We want to spend some time in the Bay Islands thereafter snorkeling, birding and experiencing the natural world and wonders of the Bay Islands. We are not particularly interested in alot of loud night life, but rather look forward to beautiful sunsets, good food and interesting conversation/company. We don't want to stay at an over priced, large resort hotel, but instead prefer smallish, friendly, lodges, inns or b&bs with views of the water. Any suggestions for best island and potential accommodations for 2 "nature-heads."

Marble Hill Farms has cabins for rent on a hill overlooking the north shore. Brian, who runs it, can offer you anything from kayaking through the mangrove forest near St. Helena. there you can see a variety of tropical birds, alligators and on the way back snorkel the reefs in Camp Bay. there is a nice restaurant palapa over the water that will serve you ceviche and rum punch before you head back to catch the sunset from your cabin. they also offer diving, windsurfing, kite boarding and have a great restaurant which overlooks the bay.

We stayed at Half Moon Bay Resort (not a resort) in July. It is in West End, but at the quiet tip of Half Moon Bay. It is a bunch of little duplex cabins with a deck restaurant and a little pier into the the reef. If you are interested in snorkeling, it is brilliant. The food was pretty good and the staff were laid back and helpful. You can arrange to night snorkel with the dive shop next door. If you enjoy looking at creatures in their natural environment, snorkeling at night is fantastic. We say eels, an octopus, lobsters.... amazing. Cabin with a/c was $58us per night.
