Hi, I'm planning a week long trip to Honduras, mostly based in Utila/ Bay Islands for a scuba diving adventure.

I was wondering if you all recommend any other amazing stuff nearby that I could squeeze into a few day trips. Not just beaching/ snorkeling/ diving stuff which I'm sure I'll have plenty of in Utila.

I'm a photographer and like to get off the beaten path a bit, and ideally would want some cool stuff that isn't your average postcard fare.

Here's my website if you're interested: www.fredgrinstein.com

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Fred

Sounds like either Jungle lodge or Omega Jungle Lodge on the Rio Congreal may be what you are looking for. It is not easy to go back and forth from the islands so I would plan that at the beginning or end of the time on the islands.

Rent a car and drive around Roatan, especially in the Punta Gorda area (East End which is not highly developed).

I checked out your website - liked your pix. I think you would find a lot of interesting shots on Roatan. Also go to the missionary school and the other towns (Coxen Hole and French Harbor). You will find some pix shots that will break your heart.

We stayed at Omega Lodge and really enjoyed it. One of the adventures we did with them was kayaking through Cacao Lagoon to a secluded Caribbean beach - a great day. We drove through the village of Cacao and really liked it - interesting, friendly people, some nice community development going on. It might be worth a look. Keep us posted!

Great tips! As usual, struggling with the luxurious dilemma of 1) do I just chill on beaches and scuba dive all day or 2) do i try to squeeze in more adventures into a small amount of time.

Thanks everybody!
