I'm having a great time in Guatemala, but have to write about the terrible service received from el Gran Jaguar travel Agency in Antigua. No doubt others may have had good service from them, but this is my story. First, they don't have many English speakers. It was not a problem for me because I can speak Spanish. However, other people in line were struggling and I had to translate.

We hired a private shuttle to the Guat City airport through Gran Jaguar, which cost $25 for the shuttle, same…

I would like to make a donation of some supplies to a few schools while on my trip. Will
I be able to buy most everything there or should I bring from home?

Right now here in the states there are back to schools sales with special ads
Packages of 10 pencils for 25 cents
Packages of colored pencils 35 cents
Colored markers packs for $1
Good prices on some other stuff.

I'd prefer to pick up supplies there but don't know what is available
Can anyone help??

thanks

My husband and I will be traveling with our three young children ages 6, 4 and 2 to Guatemala for eleven days. We will be concentrating on the Antigua and Lake Atitlan areas but would like any suggestions people may have on child-friendly activities, restaurants, etc. We will also be in Guat city (Zone 10), Quezaltenango, Panajechel, Chichi, so any info on these areas would be greatly appreciated. We have to be extra careful of the food since our children are so young and we have NO idea what…

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knew what the easiest way to volunteer is. I´m staying in san marcos but heading to Antigua for a few days. I´d like to try doing conservation work but anythings good. Not sure if you have to sort this sort of stuff out in advance or not. Any suggestions?

Cheers. Jen.

There is an organization K ashem that organizes trips and excursions around Guatemala, it is not a tourist agency and not specifically for toursits, mostly for guatemalans so prices are better, if you are interested you can go to Hasta la Cumbre they have a calender of programmed activities and meeting places. It is in spanish tough, but you can contact them and if you manage a little spanish you can find the important info

Hi there:
I am planning to head down to Guatemala in september and will spend a few days in Chisec. Has anyone been there lately? I'm wondering what the town is like etc etc. We will be there just after the elections and I'm wondering about the stability in the town as well. As they have a burdgeoning ecotourism industry, I'm assuming the town is quite safe and stable. I can't seem to find much about this town anywhere and would love any reviews people have.
